Rural communities in Suffolk are being given the opportunity to get more active thanks to a new initiative launched by Suffolk Sport. ‘Fit Villages’ gives local communities the chance to run subsidised sporting and physical activity sessions from local facilities such as village halls, community centres and recreation grounds thanks to support from local funding bodies. >>
Last weekend the teams from around Norfolk headed to the UEA Sportspark for the inaugural Village Games final. Winning villages from the 6 District events that took place over the summer, converged on the Sportspark to pit their skills against each other. There was a mixture of activities including 5 a-side football, darts, wattbikes, short mat bowls, badminton, table tennis, archery, tennis and rounders with a fun tug of war at the end. The project delivered by the Norfolk’s County Sport Partnership, Active Norfolk was deemed a great success. >>
