Potential 2012 Athlete Inspires Disabled Children 2 Succeed

Youngsters in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent dreaming of competing for Britain at a future Paralympic Games now have the opportunity to be part of an exciting new programme 'Inspire 2 Succeed' that will start them on their sporting journey. Mark Fosbrook, potential 2012 Wheelchair Basketball athlete and Disability Sport Officer has developed the 'Inspire 2 Succeed' Inspirational Athlete Programme. Launched by Sport Across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, this is a new initiative which aims to identify disabled children and support them through their development in competitive sport.

The 'Inspire 2 Succeed' Programme is looking for children with any disability from ages 7-16 to be a part of this fantastic programme and opportunity. All children on the programme will be identified and invited to attend specific talent days for a selection of sports including athletics, canoeing, cricket, football, golf, swimming, table cricket, table tennis, wheelchair basketball and wheelchair football.

High quality coaches from National Governing Bodies of Sport will be delivering a number of events allowing children to experience new sports, develop skills and access talent pathways.  All children involved in the programme will become part of the 'Inspire 2 Succeed Squad' which will come together in July to provide additional support in nutrition, health and skills advice.

The programme is not just about helping the most talented athletes every young person entering the programme will be directed towards further sporting opportunities and inclusive clubs.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for disabled children in Staffordshire to develop their skills and start their sporting journey. The support that this programme will give is something that I know I would have embraced as a young disabled sports person growing up. I hope I can encourage as many disabled children to sign up as possible.”  Commented Mark Fosbrook, Potential 2012 Athlete.
