Women in Sport work closely with the County Sport Partnership (CSP) Network and a number of individual CSPs across England. Late last year, they teamed up with Sport England to deliver two ‘train the trainer’ style workshops to enable CSP staff to share our key insights and advice across local networks.
Since the workshops 9 CSPs have used the toolkit produced by Women in Sport to deliver individual meetings, workshops and larger presentations about how to effectively engage women and girls in programmes. The toolkit covers the following topics highlighting research findings and application techniques; understanding your audience, marketing and communications, planning your sessions and keeping them coming back
Kirsty Heath, Senior Partnerships Manager, Get Berkshire Active , has been using the workshop said:
“At Get Berkshire Active we have awarded funding to a group of organisations for delivery of This Girl Can projects. In return for the funding each organisation, which included; a Leisure Provider, a School Sport Partnership, a college, a Sailing Club and a Golf Club were expected to meet with Kirsty (Senior Partnership Manager at GBA) to go through the ‘Transforming Local Delivery for Women and Girls’ presentation.
The main aim of the meeting was to help them understand the value system that had been identified in the research carried out by Women in Sport. The hope was that this would encourage them to think differently, with the outcome being new ideas on how they might shape their delivery to engage inactive women and girls in activity. We are confident the organisations understood the value system and the resultant discussions involved some interesting ideas. The challenge is how well this organisation can translate this information into delivery along with disseminating it to their respective workforce.”

"It is great to see the toolkit being used so pro-actively, especially when linking to the ‘This Girl Can’ campaign. We encourage all CSPs to have a look at the toolkit and share with locally, it’s a great tool to use and to help partners think differently about how they align their programmes for women and girls".
The toolkit is part of Women in Sports CSP resource hub, which has lots of tailored information. If you have any questions on our CSP support please email info@womeninsport.org
